rough idle

Hello,
I have been having a problem with my truck lately and cant figure it out. Maybe one of you has been through it?

When i turn it on sometimes it idles rough goes from 500-1000 rpm repetedly and it happens ramdomly most of the time its fine. Wether its the first time i turn it on in days or after getting out of it for 5 minutes.

if anyone could help out it would be great

Get a can of BRAKE CLEANER and spray it on all of your vacuum hoses to see if you have a leak on one of them..

If you spray it, and the truck revs up.... You found it.....


(Sounds like a small leak on a hose that keeps bending shut then opens back up.)

agree sounds like possibly intake gasket leak, is your truck modded or basicly stock?

mods= K&N CAI, headers, exhaust. Thats it.
I will try the brake cleaner thing today thank you.
how would i test the intake gasket?

check iif ur knn is properly fit.. it may be loose, that could cause the rev....

mass air flow backwards, dirty throttle body could cause that. also to check the intake gaskets spray brake clean along where the intake meets the heads

throttle body is dirty, GM TBs tend to cause problems when they gunk up. Try cleaning the throttle body and get some of that MAF cleaner and clean it as well.
