Im new to this forum, been part of GMFullsize for about a year or so. I have a 2007 Silverado CC that Ive been collecting parts for the last 12 months Ive been in Iraq. Ill be home in January time frame and found an awesome deal on a 14 bolt semi float 9.5" Rear Axle from a 2007 Silverado VMAX. It does not come with brakes however. My question is, what would i need to do this to do make it work on my truck? Thanks guys.

1. U joint Conversion??
2. Can I buy brake parts for a rear disced 14SF..What parts??
3. Can I swap my stock 10 bolt drums to the 14sf????
4. Anything else I need to worry about??

Honestly I dont really know, but as long as the 14bolt is a 6 lug then I think it will bolt up with no problems. If its an 8 lug 14 bolt then I think you have to do a lot of work to it and IMO its not worth it.

We have a local gear guy that is on the site... he would probably know the answer to your question. Lets hope he sees it :D

thanks guys, it is a 6 Lug axle. My problem is really the brake situation. Whether I can run disks easily at an acceptable price or swap my drums over until i can afford disks.

So far from what Ive gathered, it should be an all around straight forward swap. Pretty stoked about that!!

it should be just an easy swap out

That would be perfect. Now I need to find a reputable person to do the gears..any help there?

Will I have a problem since the axle is set up for disks if I swap in my drums though? ABS issues etc...

I have 37s waiting on me when I get home that want to run worry free. I dont want this truck to be subjected to Street use only. I have land in CENTEX and hunt on it. Gets pretty crappy there and I dont want to worry about breaking the 10 bolt . The 14 bolt is a good deal and much stronger than the 10 bolt. Good price and from a NNBS truck. I think its worth it if i can figure out the brake situation.
